Smultronbacken HVB in eastern Gothenburg is a home-like HVB accommodation that receives children, particularly aged between 10 and 13 years who are in need of treatment due to developed challenging behavior. The children may have few or no functioning social relationships and a poor trust in the adult world. They may have witnessed violence, been victims of violence themselves, or carry other traumatic events. Lack of schooling can also be a problem, but is not in itself a reason for placement. In combination with the aforementioned aspects, the children may have one or more functional variations. Smultronbacken HVB also accepts emergency placements while the process of finding a permanent foster home is still ongoing.

The position involves treatment work, planning responsibility, child and parent conversations, observations with the children, meetings with social services, and other professionals. Documentation constitutes a large part of the assignment. The documentation includes writing investigations, summaries, journals, and establishing implementation plans for the child.

Smultronbacken HVB started its operations in September 2023 and is now looking for more talents, primarily social workers but also treatment pedagogues for day, evening, and weekend work.

The work is scheduled during daytime, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

Why Smultronbacken?

Smultronbacken HVB aims to provide children in need of care outside the home with tools to carry with them later in life. The work at Smultronbacken takes place in a safe and structured environment. Here, children get to know trustworthy adults who convey clear pedagogy in environment-adapted settings. The idea is for the accommodation to be a safe and calm place to land and grow in.

The following methods are applied at Smultronbacken:

Structured conversation treatment, applied behavior analysis (ABA), low-affect responses, child-centered needs (BBIC), clarifying pedagogy, and environmental therapy.

Smultronbacken will have an environmentally therapeutic approach and a low-affect response. The environment should be predictable with a high level of care and credible relationships with trustworthy adults. Furthermore, the applied behavior therapy method is used where the child's positive behaviors are reinforced to move away from challenging behaviors. The work is carried out partly through clarifying pedagogy to create a clear and safe structure in combination with conversation treatment. All work is based on the implementation plan and carried out in accordance with BBIC.

Smultronbacken will also encourage new knowledge and a sense of accomplishment through group and individual cultivation, experiences in adapted environments, time in the studio, storytelling sessions, and everyday and household activities.

We are looking for someone who is ready to make a significant difference in children's lives. You who apply will have a significant role in shaping the accommodation's daily routines and working methods. Therefore, it is of great importance that you are a person who can work independently and take responsibility for the accommodation's and children's daily activities. You have a good ability to relate to decisions and guidelines that govern the operation and make independent decisions when the operation requires.

You have a pedagogical approach and can present and communicate information clearly and simply.

You have knowledge of working with the target group and are a calm person who can handle difficult and complex situations.

You are curious and appreciate meeting people at different levels. You find it easy to collaborate and cooperate in various contexts.

You have relevant experience from public authority work.

Requirements:

You have post-secondary education such as a social worker, social educator, behavioral scientist, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. In cases where you lack an education, you are kindly requested not to apply for a position with us.

As the operation will focus on developing and supporting children in their communication and adapting the environment according to the child's conditions, special educators and speech therapists are warmly welcomed to apply for the position.

You have experience in psychosocial work with the target group.

Desirable:

A driving license is desirable.

You have education and/or practical experience in the operation's applied methods: structured conversation treatment, applied behavior analysis (ABA), low-affect responses, child-centered needs (BBIC), clarifying pedagogy, and environmental therapy.

The operation

A six-month probationary period applies.
